How it works
From the first call to the last handover.
Every program follows the same path: an honest assessment at your home, a written plan, training in the places you want to take your dog, and a handover that teaches everyone who lives with your dog.
How it works
Step by step.
Apply (about a minute)
Tell us what's going on, where you'd like to be able to take your dog, and where you are. It helps us prepare, and it stays private.
A call (usually within minutes in business hours)
Our booking assistant calls you to hear what's going on and check we're the right fit. If we're not, we'll say so, and point you somewhere better. If we are, we'll book an assessment and tell you the program price range upfront.
Assessment and first lesson at your home (about 90 minutes, $295)
We meet your dog where it lives, with everyone who handles it. A remote collar goes on at the assessment, so you see how it works with your dog before you decide. We see what happens in the situations that cause trouble, at a distance that keeps everyone safe. Nothing is set up to provoke a reaction. At the end we recommend a program, tell you exactly what it costs, and you can enrol on the day if you'd like to. There's no obligation.
Your written plan
What we saw, what we think is driving it, what's realistic, and what we'd recommend. Yours to keep, whether you work with us or not. The assessment fee comes off your program if you sign up within 7 days.
Your program
- Steady Walks (walking and safety: loose lead, focus, "leave it", recall basics) or Steady Anywhere (adds calmer around dogs, bikes and people, settling at the cafe, the emergency stop and recall around dogs). Sessions on your street, at the cafe strip and at the park, where it actually happens.
- Video of every session, so you see exactly what was done.
Handover, for everyone at home
Every person who walks or handles your dog learns the plan, and how to use the remote, in the places it matters. A plan only one person can follow falls apart at home.
Aftercare
Text support during the program and for 4 weeks after it ends, weekly group walks, and for Steady Anywhere a check-in at 3 months. After that, graduates can join Walk Club.
Why we come to you.
Most problem behaviour is tied to place: the front door, the footpath, the dog over the fence, the visitor in the hallway. A dog that behaves in a training centre still has to come home. So we work where your dog lives, and we teach the people your dog lives with.
How we train. Mitch trains with a balanced method. Rewards, like treats, when your dog gets it right, and a remote collar as our main tool for barking, recall, chasing and manners. If a cue is missed, a vibration until your dog responds, and it stops when they do. Where stimulation is needed, the lowest level that gets a response, set for each dog, and tones to mark a boundary. Anxious dogs are assessed differently, and some need a vet first. At handover, everyone at home learns to use the remote, because you'll be the one using it after the program. The collar is included in the program price, and it's in every session video. Prong collars: never (they're illegal in Queensland).
Who trains your dog. Mitch, our dog trainer, does your assessment and your training sessions himself. He's been training dogs for about two years, and has worked with more than 20 dogs.

Questions
Straight answers.
Is there an obligation to buy at the assessment?
No. You'll get our recommendation and the price, and the written plan is yours either way.
What happens if I enrol on the day?
You sign the program agreement at the assessment. Payment is due, and your first session is booked, 10 business days after you sign. Your $295 assessment fee comes off the program price.
Does my whole family need to be there?
Ideally, yes: everyone who walks or handles your dog. If someone can't make the assessment, they'll be part of the handover.
Can you guarantee results?
No. We guarantee the process: an honest assessment, a written plan, careful work, everyone at home taught, and text support during the program and for 4 weeks after.
It starts with a short application.
